Shedding our coats
Who wouldn’t want to strangle that pathetic-excuse-for-a-meteorologist groundhog who’d rather have 6 more weeks of hibernation, er, I mean, winter?
Some of us have grown tired of the erratic frigidity the Sunflower state bestows upon its inhabitants. True, we have grown accustomed to battling Mother Nature’s most extreme of “bipolar” outbreaks. But this weekend promises much more sun and forecasted warmth, and many of our team members are looking forward to breaking their cabin fever and enjoying this first glimpse of spring. Here’s what we’re planning for this weekends respite:
“I hope to get in at least 50-miles on the bike, and continue the battle with tree limbs on the ground from the December ice storm.” -– Jake
“I’m finally moving to Topeka! While I’ll be stuck inside at least I won’t be fighting the snow or rain (fingers crossed) on the hour drive to town.” – Brie
“SPRING CLEANING! Those of you who really know me know I’m a devoted treasure hunter, but I could fill a dumpster with all the stuff I’ve been waiting to get rid of in my house. Believe it or not, I do love to declutter. The ironic thing is a lot of the stuff that goes out to the dumpster I originally found in a dumpster. It’s this circle of life … or trash … at our house that drives my wife crazy!” – Dan
“There were two sick trees on our church grounds that my wife and I agreed to cut down last fall. We removed the biggest one right after Thanksgiving but the weather prevented us from getting the other one. Saturday will be the day!” – Kurt
“I’m looking forward to getting Tom back out on the golf course so I can get some work done inside and out. Then maybe sitting on the deck catching up on my reading.” – Leslie
“I can’t wait to walk around our yard and start my list of spring planting projects.” – Linda B.
“Starting the weekend off with an outdoor barbecue celebrating my nephew’s birthday. Plus trying to keep the kiddos out of the mud, or NOT.” – Linda E.
“Let’s just say it’s been a long winter for Abbey (yellow lab/golden retriever mix) she has a nice, fenced-in back yard (not overly large) where she goes to take care of business. Anyway, the yard really needs to be cleaned up so she has room to continue doing what dogs do best.” – Sherri
“I’ll try to soak in as much sun as possible. My family and I plan to hike around the trails at Clinton Lake and get dirty doing yard work.” – Erin
“I will be cleaning out my car that definitely needs a little TLC, and also photographing my Nephew who is a month old. I’m such a proud aunt!” – Mindy
“Since I’m trying to get my house in prime selling condition, I’m going to open up all of my windows and doors to actually air out my house as I paint the walls. No more crazy fumes for me!” – Alissa
“I’m hoping to enjoy the weather by smoking a cigar on the deck of my brother’s house.” – Nick
